ARCA Unlimited was consulted to find a suitable property for Hyundai in Hatfield, Pretoria. As most sites in the area are already developed, no greenfield opportunities were available. Hyundai’s expanding model range and requirements for ample space were driving factors in this project. Various feasibility studies illustrated the advantages and disadvantages of renovating potential properties. To meet the land requirements, three properties were consolidated and existing buildings were extended by 720m2. The facility provides: generous showroom space for new and pre-owned vehicles; a service reception; basement parking for customers; and expansion opportunities. Hyundai’s dealership standards were implemented to express brand values, excellent quality and an emphasis on exceeding customer expectations. This project illustrates how seemingly unsuitable buildings could be altered to provide a quality dealership and to maintain the high customer-service standards required by Hyundai South Africa.
